These two are big players in the BPM space and offer a variety of products and services to help organisations with their process improvement challenges. So, without further adue, let's put these two competitors in a comparison ring and watch them go a few rounds - Casewise vs Aris: which is the best Business Process Management software?
Casewise offer a variety of different products ranging from a simple process modelling tool to a fully scalable business process management system, with optional add-ins such as communications and analytics software. Casewise Synergy is an ‘industry leading’ BPM system and allows you to design, simulate and improve the business processes you have created in the modelling suite.
The Casewise Suite ‘comprises a set of tools which provide insight, visibility and a common understanding of the reality of the business.’ This process modeller allows business teams to capture their processes and analyse them to drive improvement and organisational change. The platform is highly customisable and can be configured to fit a variety of different business needs and objectives.
Some other benefits include:
As Casewise is such a huge player in the BPM space, it’s likely that it will sit at the higher end of the pricing spectrum. With so many different software options to choose from, you are likely to be able to tailor the package to suit your business goals but the decision may be quite a complex one. Also, as with any new software purchase, once you have decided on the features you need, you will need to spend time implementing the solution, and as Casewise has lots of bells and whistles, the setup and training required may eat up valuable resource.
Some other limitations include:
Aris is Software AG’s leading Business Process Analysis Platform. Using this tool you can document and design your business processes before analysing them to identify where improvements can be made. Your optimised processes can then be shared across your organisation so that they can be used to support continuous improvement. This top-of-the-range platform is great for simulating business processes to identify where changes can be made and can be tailored to suit a variety of different business needs.
Aris is an excellent out-of-the-box solution for process analysis and is a great choice if you are looking to extend your improvement efforts beyond BPM. The tool is easy to use and allows the user to create and simulate process models quickly so that they can be presented to key stakeholders.
Some other benefits include:
Aris is specifically designed to be an enterprise architecture solution. So if you are looking solely for business process management, with some improvement capabilities then this may be a little out of your remit. Similarly to Casewise, it is also at the high end of the pricing spectrum with a vast array of features and specifications to choose from. Other limitations are:
With these two systems, you really do get what you pay for and there aren’t any clear distinctions in terms of software capabilities. However, they are both predominantly designed for complete enterprise architecture. This is great news if you have the budget and are looking for something that can be scaled exponentially in this way, but if you are unlikely to use all of the functionality, or enterprise architecture isn’t something you are considering, then it may be worth looking at some dedicated business process management platforms.
